Valentine's day dinner could be so much fun even without a significant other, as long as you get some good food, like what I had at Coq D'argent London.
Last February, I had an impromptu dinner with my best friend, Elizabeth to Coq D'argent in London. It's a breathtaking restaurant that sits on the roof of No.1 Poultry, with glimpses over the renowned Square Mile. They offer visitors the finest French cuisine in the most extravagant of settings, with one of London's most remarkable roof gardens.
Coq D'argent is jam-packed with some middle-aged British bankers hoping to impress their companions with "remarkably" costly meals. However, it appeared that we arrived at the "wrong" moment, when the restaurant's main feature was closed, forcing us to sit inside between the tall fake-plants-wall and traffic noises from the streets downstairs.
So, we started with the classique et iconique, Escargots de Bourgogne, 6 Burgundian Petits Gris Snails with garlic and parsley butter. It was a splurge for sure, but dang it was worth it!
And as for the mains, we have, Tarte au Comte-- a cheese tart with granny smith, lamb’s lettuce and dressed in black truffle, and Souris d'Agneau-- garlic slow-cooked lamb shank with rosemary and potato purée. They are priced at £23 and £31 accordingly.
Overall, the restaurant was nice, with its view that we didn't get to see and the menu that are actually top notch.
I could definitely tell that people who come here are those who desire tranquillity with a glass of wine and a good companion to talk about stocks, NFTs and probably some underground strategies to knock Musk from his throne.
The only ick I got from this place is how responsive and attentive the staffs are, they are more than ready to serve you and help you at any second 😳🙊. Anyhow, c'êtait un bon experience definitely and my only suggestion is to check the weather forecast before you come and to not come around during wintertime!
